In 1991, Joe Murphy took a piece of clay and inscribed the word peace into it.  He began to make peace pendants by the thousands, with symbols and the words for peace in many languages, starting a Peace Chain Reaction!   Now known as Joe Peace, he creates his works as a daily practice, a way of finding peace, piece by piece.  “In 17 years I have made 431,204 pieces” Joe said. “I will make them the rest of my life.” 

Joe’s peace pendants can be spotted around the world reminding us of our interconnectedness.  Each person who has a peace medallion brings their own personal life journey and their circle of friends and family into the project.  This ever-expanding peace movement draws from the imagination, hopes and dreams of all.  It is not just the pieces that are this work of art,” Joe said.  “It is what is between each piece.  All of us!  It’s a metaphor for the universe, evolving as peace is created person by person.  It’s a piece of a piece for peace.  Peace is the piece.”

Joe lives his life and runs his business from his commitment to peace.  He distributes his handmade peace pendants at craft shows and events.
